Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Manager, AI Engineering to lead and scale AI-powered banking solutions. You will oversee model training, inference, guardrails, and observability while guiding a team of engineers, researchers, and PMs to deliver reliable AI products across platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.

The ideal candidate will drive architecture, optimize performance, and mentor a diverse team, balancing innovation with responsible deployment in a regulated financial setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree plus at least 4 years of experience
• At least 1 year of people leadership experience
• 3 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team (preferred)
• 6 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) (preferred)
• Experience with Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang for AI/ML algorithms (preferred)
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate AI concepts (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques
• Contribute to long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems
• Foster learning culture and mentor team members
