Job summary

Dataminr is seeking a Senior Director of AI Engineering to lead a team building the AI and data engine powering our real-time intelligence platform. You will bridge cutting-edge AI research and scalable production, translating innovations into tangible business impact.

This US-based role can be remote or based out of the New York City office, with a focus on end-to-end AI solutions and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years industry experience as a software engineer in a cloud-native environment (AWS, Kubernetes).
• 5+ years experience leading software engineers in an AI team.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks, LLMs, agent harnesses, compound AI systems (PyTorch, Langfuse, LangGraph, Weaviate, A2A).
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying ML/DL/LLMs at large scale in NLP, CV, IR, or related real-time setting.
• Demonstrated track record of driving and delivering on multiple complex AI projects.
• Deep understanding of research stages and connecting multiple technologies in end-to-end solutions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all technical aspects of how AI model outputs impact content quality across the platform.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and PMs to deliver state-of-the-art solutions at scale (NLP, CV, IR, KG).
• Define and track quality and cost metrics for models and end-to-end performance.
• Hands-on modification of workflows, evaluations, and outputs of models.
• Lead other engineers and scientists, guiding changes to technical approaches.
• Maintain a human-centered focus, ensuring practical, user-impactful solutions.
