Job summary

Blooming Health is hiring an AI Engineer to design and build real-time voice AI experiences. You’ll focus on conversational systems, LLM-driven workflows, and orchestration layers to ship reliable features.

You will work with the Director of AI Engineering and cross-functional partners to optimize latency, data quality, and production reliability, contributing to equitable care through innovative voice technologies.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and shipping voice AI or real-time conversational AI systems in production.
• Experience with speech-to-text, text-to-speech, telephony, or streaming audio pipelines.
• Strong understanding of latency, interruptions, barge-in, turn-taking, transcription quality, and conversation flow.
• Experience integrating voice infrastructure such as Twilio, WebRTC, or similar real-time communication tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build voice AI systems for real-time, conversational user experiences.
• Develop and maintain AI orchestration layers, including agent workflows and state management.
• Architect and improve workflows across speech-to-text, LLM reasoning, tool calling, and text-to-speech.
• Address tradeoffs in conversation design, prompt design, tool architecture, latency, and turn-taking.
• Build systems that handle ambiguity, interruptions, edge cases in real-world voice interactions.
• Write clean, tested Python across APIs, services, and orchestration code.
• Design data pipelines that surface insights from patient and member interactions.
• Partner on technical direction and shape Blooming Health voice products.
