Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Lead AI Engineer - Data Science and Algorithms to join the AI Transformation and Experience team. This hands-on role designs, builds, tests, deploys, and improves production AI algorithms across enterprise and government programs.

Remote position with opportunities to lead cross‑functional efforts, mentor staff, and advance AI capabilities using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP while delivering real mission outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
7+ years of professional data science or advanced algorithm building experience.
5+ years of cloud environment design or building solutions.
3+ years of AI/ML experience.
Experience deploying production algorithms beyond notebooks (e.g., not in SageMaker/Jupyter).
Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues.
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust.

Responsibilities

Lead the applied and responsible use of AI, ML, and data science solutions across the enterprise.
Mentor staff and collaborate on complex algorithmic developments.
Write high-quality production software and build AI-enabled applications.
Design, build, and improve production AI solutions and reference implementations.
