Job summary

Target is building production-grade AI/ML systems on its Advanced AI team, delivering automation and insights across core workflows. The role blends hands-on development with deployment of AI applications, including LLM-powered solutions, in collaboration with Data Scientists and cross-functional teams.

You’ll contribute to APIs, services, data workflows, and production monitoring while ensuring security, reliability, and maintainability aligned with Target’s standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on software engineering, including production systems.
• Experience building AI/ML applications including LLM-powered systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel.
• Experience with APIs, prompt orchestration, deployment and observability.
• Ability to break down requirements and deliver practical solutions with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and maintain AI/ML applications enabling automation, insight, and action across workflows.
• Translate business problems into practical technical solutions with data scientists and partners.
• Contribute hands-on development of production-grade AI applications and services.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code.
• Support model/framework integration, including APIs and services.
• Develop data and application workflows and contribute to deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to evaluate options and mitigate risks.
• Ensure AI applications meet security, reliability, and maintainability expectations.
