Job summary

Optiver in New York is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to join the Applied AI and Platform Engineering team. You will design, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems that automate workflows, augment decision-making, and accelerate engineering across the firm.

You will own the full lifecycle from identifying opportunities, translating business problems into scalable AI solutions, to deploying, operating, and continuously improving systems in production, using Python and modern AI

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience deploying production LLM applications.
• Experience defining evaluation frameworks and using quantitative metrics.
• Experience integrating AI systems with external tools, APIs, MCP, and modern AI frameworks.
• Strong product mindset and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems and products.
• Evaluate models and architectures for reliability, latency, cost, and impact.
• Define success metrics and build evaluation and observability tools.
• Translate business problems into scalable AI solutions.
• Design distributed, scalable, secure AI systems.
• Prototype and validate new models and workflows.
• Partner with trading, research, and business teams to iterate.
• Deliver high-quality, maintainable software with testing and reviews.
• Operate and monitor production AI systems for reliability and cost.
