Job summary

Smartsheet is building the next generation of AI-powered strategic planning and work execution agents. You will architect how to design, build, and operationalize AI solutions that transform work at enterprise scale, collaborating with Engineering and AI Platform teams on a mature ADLC.

You will design production‑grade LLM agents, optimize prompts, and manage end‑to‑end AI systems across clouds, while mentoring peers and establishing governance standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years working with LLMs in production.
• Strong prompt and context engineering to shape model behavior.
• Experience with RAG architectures, embeddings, and retrieval evaluation.
• Experience building or extending LLM evaluation frameworks and scorers.
• Fluency in agent system design and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Strong Python skills and data‑heavy environment work.
• Clear communication of quality findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design and build production‑grade LLM‑powered agents and workflows in Smartsheet.
• Develop and optimize prompts, RAG pipelines, and agent reasoning patterns; build evaluation frameworks.
• Implement and manage end‑to‑end AI systems on cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into AI solutions.
• Mentor engineers on ML best practices and production considerations.
• Establish best practices for AI development, model governance, and responsible AI.
