Job summary

New York Life is seeking a skilled AI/ML professional within the AI & Data organization to develop and deploy AI/ML solutions that enhance efficiency and improve client, agent, and employee experiences.

You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers and product partners while managing model lifecycle, responsible AI practices, and leveraging AWS/GCP and modern data platforms to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in CS, DS, ML, AI, Engineering, Math or Statistics.
• 3+ years hands-on experience building and deploying ML models.
• Strong foundation in statistics and ML with model interpretability.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; Git basics; testing and documentation.
• Working knowledge of Generative AI concepts (LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG).
• Exposure to Agentic AI architectures (tool-using agents, orchestration).
• Ability to partner with business stakeholders and communicate model design/outcomes.
• Strong communication and collaborative mindset.
• Experience in the Life Insurance or consumer finance domain is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute AI/ML initiatives with data, tech, product and business teams.
• Deliver business-aligned OKRs tied to enterprise value.
• Contribute to end-to-end model lifecycle: data exploration, feature engineering, model training/validation, deployment, monitoring, iteration.
• Design, build, and validate ML models across supervised and unsupervised paradigms.
• Apply statistical methods and experiments to validate model performance.
• Develop and operationalize models using AWS/GCP and modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks); partner with ML engineers for production deployment.
• Assist in designing and evaluating agentic/AI-powered solutions with human-in-the-loop checks and safety guardrails.
• Assist in implementing and refining LLM/RAG approaches with evaluators for reliability.
• Ensure AI capabilities are accessible via APIs, dashboards, and integrated workflow apps.
• Build lightweight UI prototypes (Streamlit) to validate usability.
• Adhere to governance, documentation, testing, and CI/CD practices with MLOps.
