Job summary

Target in Minnesota is seeking a Senior Engineer to advance Circle Card backend services and AI-enabled features. You will help design and implement scalable architectures, triage issues, and influence engineering decisions across AI and services teams.

You’ll lead design reviews, contribute to disaster recovery planning, and collaborate with product, UX, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, observable systems.

Qualifications

• 4 years of degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-scale applications.
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying production AI applications using modern LLMs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable AI-ready services using Kotlin/Java and Micronaut/Spring Boot.
• Develop secure RESTful APIs and event-driven systems for high-volume workloads.
• Lead architectural reviews, code reviews, and implementation planning.
• Collaborate with Product, UX, Data, and Infrastructure teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
