Job summary

ICF is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to develop and operationalize AI/ML capabilities across a federal cloud-based data and analytics platform. The role emphasizes responsible AI, model deployment, and cost optimization, with a strong focus on governance and human-in-the-loop workflows.

The position offers remote work with a preference for candidates in the Washington DC Metro Area and periodic onsite meetings at the client site in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements.
• Candidate must reside in the U.S., authorized to work in the U.S., and perform all work in the U.S.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, ML, or related field; Master’s may substitute for 2 years of experience.
• 6+ years of designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML solutions in enterprise cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop NLP, text analytics, prompt orchestration, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop workflows using VA-approved AI/ML tools.
• Translate unstructured-data use cases into repeatable technical patterns for privacy, provenance, evaluation, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Trustworthy AI, Security, Data Governance, and Customer Experience teams to ensure safe and governed AI capabilities.
• Apply NLP, GenAI patterns, prompt orchestration, and Azure AI to support role delivery.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, security, governance, and business stakeholders as required.
• Document work products, decisions, risks, and delivery evidence for traceability.
