Job summary

University of New England is seeking a Senior AI Programmer Analyst to design, develop, and optimize AI/ML solutions supporting academic, administrative, and research missions. You will implement scalable AI strategies, collaborate with ITS, and ensure compliance with data governance and ethical AI principles.

The role focuses on Python-based development, LLMs, RAG, data pipelines, and cross-system integration with ERP/SIS/CRM/LMS. A strong technical leadership component is included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field is required.
• 3–5 years of enterprise systems administration, configuration, development, or support experience.
• Experience with APIs, ETL tools, middleware platforms, or file-based exchange methods.
• Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (SQL, Python, Java, Groovy, Apex).
• Knowledge of relational databases, and data governance principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy AI/ML models, pipelines, and applications.
• Develop AI solutions using LLMs, generative AI, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Write clean, maintainable Python code following best practices.
• Evaluate and implement AI tools, frameworks, and platforms (Azure OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain).
• Build and maintain data pipelines to support model training and deployment.
• Integrate AI solutions with ERP, SIS, CRM, LMS, and other enterprise systems.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure secure, scalable, high-performing solutions.
• Support data quality and monitoring to track model performance.
• Apply responsible AI principles including fairness and privacy.
• Lead knowledge-sharing and mentor colleagues in AI topics.
