Kuali builds software for higher education. The Senior AI Engineer role centers on architecting AI-native capabilities, directing AI coding agents, and owning a sizable subsystem.

You define how agentic development is practiced and lead design and delivery with limited supervision. You will collaborate with engineers and product managers, translate complex requirements into actionable stories, and ensure solutions meet real-world research administration needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or software delivery.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum principles and backlog management.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to translate complex workflows into clear, actionable requirements.
• Passion for improving research administration processes and higher-education outcomes.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production SaaS.

Responsibilities

• Own the product backlog for Kuali Research and align with strategic goals.
• Turn feedback and requirements into actionable stories and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate daily with engineering and design teams to ensure timely delivery.
• Refine roadmap priorities with Product Managers and validate outcomes.
• Support release planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives for continuous improvement.
• Be the voice of the customer within the scrum team to meet real-world needs.
• Monitor product performance and drive data-driven decisions for adoption.
