Job summary

Kuali is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to own a major subsystem within our research software platform. You will lead architecture, define practices for agentic development, and guide other engineers in delivering AI-native product capabilities used by universities.

You will work across teams to shape the system that produces enterprise-scale AI work, with accountability for quality and impact. This role centers on strategic technical leadership and practical delivery.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in product ownership, software delivery, or related leadership roles.
Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum principles and backlog management.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to translate complex workflows into clear, actionable requirements.
Passion for improving research administration processes in higher education.

Responsibilities

Own the product backlog for Kuali Research, ensuring clarity and prioritization.
Translate feedback and requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
Collaborate daily with engineering and design teams to ensure timely delivery.
Refine roadmap priorities with Product Managers and validate outcomes.
Support release planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives for continuous improvement.
Serve as the voice of the customer within the scrum team to ensure real-world solutions.
