Job summary

University at Albany, SUNY seeks an AI Developer/Analyst for a two-year temporary role within Information Technology Services.

You will work with campus offices to identify opportunities to enhance efficiency using AI, develop AI agents, and move approved solutions into production with proper security and governance.) The role requires strong software development and analysis skills, plus the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Full-time professional experience in software development, automation, or related field.
• Experience developing software or automation using Python and another language.
• Hands-on experience with large language models and LLM-enabled tools.
• Experience gathering requirements and improving business processes.
• Ability to document guidance and produce user-facing materials.

Responsibilities

• Understand campus office processes, pain points, data needs, and support requirements.
• Translate business needs into defined use cases, requirements, technical designs, and delivery plans.
• Build, test, and deploy AI agents, assistants, retrieval workflows, and automations.
• Develop integrations with enterprise systems and APIs following standards.
• Apply responsible AI practices including data classification and governance.
• Coordinate reviews with Architecture, Risk, Security, and ITS teams for approvals.
• Pilot solutions with end users, collect feedback, and refine solutions.
• Document solutions, procedures, prompts, and reusable patterns.
• Train and coach departments to support approved solutions after engagement ends.
• Share successful patterns across ITS and campus offices to enable reuse.
• Monitor AI tool developments and update team standards and delivery practices.
