Job summary

Vertafore, Inc. is seeking a Senior AI Engineer in Denver to design, build, and operate AI systems powering our next generation of insurance software products.

You’ll create production-grade agents capable of reasoning through complex workflows and ensure reliability, security, and measurable performance in a highly regulated industry. You will work in small pods, contribute hands-on, and drive end-to-end features from idea to launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Math or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering focusing on backend services.
• 2+ years building/shipping LLM-powered apps or agentic systems to production.
• Hands-on with LangGraph (or LangChain/LlamaIndex).
• 5+ years designing RESTful APIs (FastAPI or similar).
• Experience evaluating ML/LLM systems and driving quality improvements.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS), Docker, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy complex reasoning agents for production workloads.
• Architect agent workflows with state, memory, planning, and recovery.
• Design/API exposure of AI capabilities to products and partners.
• Define evaluation strategies and run offline/online evaluations.
• Set up regression tests for prompts, models, and agent behavior.
• Instrument AI systems for observability (latency, cost, tokens).
• Build retrieval and context pipelines over insurance data.
• Troubleshoot production issues across the AI stack.
