Job summary

Target seeks a Senior AI Engineer to join CircleCard Account Services to design and deploy AI-powered enterprise platforms. You will lead AI engineering efforts, build autonomous AI agents, and implement robust, observable, secure services at scale.

The role emphasizes hands-on AI development, architecture design, and collaboration across engineering teams to drive business value and stakeholder satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-scale distributed applications and services.
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying production AI applications, AI-powered tools, or agentic systems using modern LLMs.
• Experience building autonomous or multi-agent workflows using MCP, LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, Google ADK, Semantic Kernel, or equivalent orchestration frameworks.
• Strong understanding of AI application architecture, including Prompt Engineering, Context Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), tool calling, memory management, orchestration patterns, and AI evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python for AI application development, automation, or AI tooling.
• Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin and Java, with experience building microservices using Micronaut and/or Spring Boot.
• Strong experience designing distributed systems, RESTful APIs, Kafka-based event-driven architectures, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Leadership, collaboration, and mentoring experience; ability to drive engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy production AI-powered applications using Target-approved AI platforms and LLMs to solve engineering and business problems.
• Develop domain-specific AI agents and multi-agent workflows using modern orchestration frameworks.
• Implement prompt engineering, context engineering, and RAG strategies to improve quality and efficiency.
• Build reusable AI components, frameworks, libraries, and accelerators to boost developer productivity.
• Lead design discussions, architecture reviews, and implementation planning across teams.
• Ensure observability, security, governance, and responsible AI practices in AI-enabled services.
• Collaborate with Product Management, UX, Architecture, Infrastructure, Data, and stakeholders to deliver value.
