Job summary

Symetra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to deliver core capabilities and APIs behind our AI-enabled products. You will ship lightweight interfaces and help shape patterns across teams while mentoring junior engineers.

You’ll work on secure, scalable code, contribute to design decisions, and improve testing and delivery pipelines in a fast-growing AI enablement group. Collaboration with internal customers is key.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience delivering production services and APIs.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with internal stakeholders.
• Experience building and deploying services in the cloud (AWS or Google Cloud).
• Ability to mentor junior engineers on a cross-functional team.
• Familiarity with AI tooling and integrating AI into production systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver secure, high-quality, performant code and reusable solutions.
• Contribute to design reviews and shape our architecture.
• Improve testing, automation, and delivery processes.
• Support security, performance, and reliability; participate in incident analysis.
• Mentor junior engineers on the team.
