Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a Systems Design Reliability Engineering (SDRE) engineer to join a small, high-leverage team. You will build and operate AI tooling and Digital Twin infrastructure across Vehicle Controls, Infotainment, Communications, and Access.

Responsibilities include end-to-end feature ownership from plant models to LLM-assisted pipelines, plus hands-on systems engineering tasks.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Strong Python skills for data processing, prototyping AI workflows, automation scripts, or microservices.
• Practical experience building LLM applications: RAG pipelines, semantic search, structured reasoning, or agent frameworks.
• Systems-minded: decompose a physical product into subsystems, behaviors and interfaces.
• Comfort iterating quickly from prototype to production using modelling in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Digital Twin Development & Operation for multi-fidelity plant models.
• Develop and run co-simulation environments pairing vECUs with plant models.
• Model-to-code to validate control requirements before production code.
• SIL regression tests in nightly CI to catch regressions and expand coverage.
• Field issue replay to reproduce failures in digital twin before shipping.
• Correlate models with real vehicle and lab data.
