Job summary

Wizards of the Coast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Business Systems Engineering group. You’ll design, build, and operate AWS-based services powering our product creation platform for Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and more.

You’ll drive technical direction, set engineering standards, and mentor teammates while hands-on coding with AI-assisted workflows. You’ll own end-to-end technical decisions, collaborate with product owners, and translate business challenges

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a lead, staff, or senior+ capacity.
• Proven track record building and operating production-grade enterprise software. Deep understanding of application and distributed system design and architecture patterns.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development workflows and the judgment to critically evaluate AI-generated code against production quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop services and applications on AWS that are core to our product creation platform.
• Influence and champion engineering standards across the org, resulting in effective system design at both the application and service level.
• Leverage and enhance our AI-assisted development tooling continuously improving the practices, review standards, and quality gates that keep AI-accelerated delivery reliable and maintainable.
• Own technical decisions end-to-end: assess tradeoffs, align partners, drive execution, and follow through without waiting to be asked.
• Translate business challenges into well-designed, scalable software solutions in partnership with product owners and cross-functional partners.
• Influence and build up your teammates through technical direction, and code and design reviews, supporting their growth and career development.
