Job summary

Compass is seeking a Senior Engineer in the Developer Intelligence pillar to own and implement AI-assisted workflows across observability, telemetry, and software catalog systems. You will automate developer tasks, improve testing frameworks, and assist with production troubleshooting.

You will mature engineering signals across CI/CD, code reviews, and incident triage, while mentoring teammates and shaping platform architecture.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Go and Python for telemetry pipelines and AI workflows.
• Experience with data pipelines, telemetry streams, observability infrastructures, or developer metrics frameworks.
• Experience embedding AI models, LLM APIs, or automated orchestration tools into pipelines or triaging workflows.
• Experience deploying and operating software components on major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Responsibilities

• Deliver and implement technical solutions for Developer Intelligence systems, focusing on telemetry collection, observability instrumentation, and AI-assisted tooling.
• Analyze developer workflows and SDLC feedback loops to design testable, maintainable, and efficient components.
• Build and maintain subsystems that collect, correlate, and operationalize data from CI/CD pipelines, source control, testing infra, and developer workflows.
• Write high-quality, stable, and performant code to integrate AI tools into daily engineering workflows, including automated reviews and incident triaging.
• Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to balance technical requirements and roadblocks; participate in design reviews.
• Identify and resolve systemic operational bottlenecks, automate processes, and clean up codebases.
• Mentor peers, provide code reviews, and train newer team members on platform architecture.
