Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Company LP seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to lead design, operation, and continuous improvement of data and platform services across cloud, analytics, and AI workloads. You will establish a reliable operating model, drive governance, and partner with AMS and platform teams to reduce manual work and increase resilience.

The role emphasizes building an enterprise-ready foundation for platform operations, including monitoring, incident response, and security controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant platforms engineer experience.
• Experience with cloud, analytics, and AI-enabled workloads is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of platform health, incident response, observability, and governance.

Responsibilities

• Identifies performance bottlenecks and proposes solutions to enhance platform performance.
• Establishes benchmarks and capacity planning with cross-functional teams.
• Drives troubleshooting procedures, minimizes downtime, and documents outcomes.
• Leads platform and system support activities and complex issue resolution.
• Builds scalable infrastructure solutions and supports CI/CD pipelines.
• Develops automation scripts and tooling in .NET, Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Maintains knowledge base and promotes cross-team collaboration.
• Supports disaster recovery planning and testing.
