Abbott, based in Saint Paul, MN, seeks a Senior Engineer to lead data operations and model evaluation for AI/ML in a medical device setting. You will manage dataset lifecycles, ensure data quality, and coordinate cross-functional teams to support regulatory and safety requirements.

The role emphasizes governance, provenance, and secure data sharing with AI/ML engineers, clinical partners, legal, and cybersecurity, enabling robust model development workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (CS, engineering, data analytics, health informatics, or similar).
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience supporting AI/ML development, data engineering, model validation, analytics, or algorithm development.
• Experience designing and executing model evaluation and performance frameworks.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Azure Data Platform, Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Manage lifecycle of training, validation, and testing datasets for AI/ML.
• Coordinate ingestion, organization, reviews, and maintenance of clinical and field datasets.
• Develop data inventories, metadata standards, and lineage documentation.
• Maintain auditable records of dataset provenance and usage.
• Coordinate secure transfer and compliant sharing of sensitive data.
• Monitor data quality and readiness for AI development.
• Support annotation and labeling workflows with vendors.
• Create dashboards and reports communicating model performance trends.
• Collaborate with AI/ML, software, clinical, regulatory teams.
