Abbott is seeking a Senior Staff AI/ML Engineer in Santa Clara, CA to lead enterprise AI initiatives in Medical Devices Digital. You will drive architecture, scalability, and MLOps governance, partnering with data scientists and engineers to deploy reliable AI solutions that meet HIPAA, GDPR, and SaMD standards.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive ML infrastructure experience, and collaboration across teams to shape the long-term technology roadmap.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s Degree required in CS/engineering/math or related field.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience; higher for master/PhD.
• Deep experience building ML infrastructure for experiment tracking, model training, data versioning, annotation tools, model serving, monitoring and observability.
• Experience with GenAI and Agentic AI development infrastructure including grounding, RAG, MCP and prompt engineering.
• Experience developing AI products on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficient in Azure ML SDK, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark, or related tech.
• Strong database knowledge (SQL/NoSQL) and data modeling.
• Agile software development methods (scrum/Kanban) in CI/CD environments.
• Security by Design in AI product development.
• Leadership engagement with senior executives.
• Exposure to architecture practices across business, data, security, infra.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Certifications in AI/ML, LLMs, and Cloud platforms.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Team leadership and mentorship capabilities.

Responsabilidades

• Develop end-to-end ML solutions: data ingestion to monitoring.
• Architect scalable cloud/on-prem ML infrastructure.
• Bridge science and engineering with CI/CD for ML; implement robust governance.
• Mentor ML engineers and set coding standards; perform design reviews.
• Collaborate with data scientists, infrastructure, product leaders to deploy AI safely and reliably.
• Drive alignment with business leadership on architecture strategy.
