Job summary

Submer is seeking a Senior AI Data Center Electrical Engineer in Houston to lead design and optimization of electrical power for HPC/AI facilities. You will manage MV/LV distribution, BESS, UPS, and backup power for 100–300 MW scale projects, including modular 1–2 MW pods and 50–300 MW campuses.

The role requires 10+ years in electrical engineering for mission-critical facilities, with at least 5 years in large-scale data centers and strong expertise in NVIDIA GB300/VR200 architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience in mission-critical facilities.
• At least 5 years in large-scale data centers (100–300 MW).

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and optimize MV/LV electrical distribution systems for hyperscale HPC/AI data centers.
• Lead power architecture for NVIDIA GB300 and VR200 reference deployments; address high-density rack power needs.
• Develop and implement BESS, UPS, generators, and backup power to ensure near-100% uptime.
• Architect modular 1–2 MW containers/pods that scale into 50–300 MW sites.
• Perform power system studies (short circuit, arc flash, load flow, harmonics).
• Collaborate with MEP teams for 480V AC and 800V DC architectures; 13.8kV/34.5kV to IT spaces.
• Create detailed single-line power flow diagrams and justify design decisions.
• Support construction, commissioning, and operations; troubleshoot and optimize.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for power density and energy efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers and help develop company standards.
