Job summary

AMD is seeking a Lead Engineer, Data Center Electrical to provide technical leadership for the electrical design and validation of large-scale AI data centers. You will assess utility and on-site power interfaces, substations, and distribution, and ensure the connection to GPU racks.

The role requires experience with mission-critical infrastructure, power systems modeling, and collaboration across mechanical, controls, compute, and tenant-fit teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Experience with large-scale electrical infrastructure for data centers.
• Ability to model power systems and explain risks to stakeholders.
• Experience with ETAP, SKM, or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical content of the data center BOD, including design criteria.
• Translate requirements into capacity plans and guardrails.
• Validate power paths from utility to data hall distribution.
• Assess generators, energy storage, UPS, and transfer systems.
• Review equipment, cabling, and racks for capacity and configuration.
• Prepare risk assessments and readiness recommendations for leadership.
