Job summary

IDC's Senior Forward Deployed Engineer role sits at the nexus of research and delivery innovation. You will join AI, Enterprise Optimization & Automation teams to design and build AI systems that automate research workflows, working with researchers, editors, and senior stakeholders.

You will own AI workers, content pipelines, and production integrations, translating analyst needs into scalable technical solutions while delivering measurable impact from day one.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering.
• Genuine curiosity about agentic AI and knowledge work automation.
• Practical experience building with AWS Strands or comparable agentic frameworks in production.
• Experience building content or document processing pipelines, ingestion, transformation, structuring, and delivery of unstructured or semi-structured content.
• Solid automation engineering fundamentals; know when to use an LLM or a rule-based system.
• Practical experience with Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore, and MCP server integration.
• Proficiency in Python and REST APIs, comfortable with webhooks and middleware.
• Ability to work directly with domain experts and translate their process requirements into technical systems.
• Comfort operating with significant autonomy in a complex environment.

Responsibilities

• Build AI Workers using AWS Strands and autonomous agents for research tasks.
• Design and build content pipelines transforming raw inputs into structured components.
• Automate steps in the research workflow while preserving sequencing logic for safety.
• Create and maintain dynamic work management automations for routing and prioritization.
• Own prompt design and evaluation for production AI systems handling research content.
• Integrate research tools, repositories, and publishing systems via APIs and middleware.
• Translate analyst/editor requirements into technical specifications and ship them.
