Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) seeks a Chief AI Subject Matter Expert to advance AI adoption across the Integrated Warfare Systems Division. Based on-site in San Diego, CA, Arlington, VA, or Mt.

Laurel, NJ, you will guide AI strategies and governance across engineering teams to accelerate development while meeting security and mission assurance standards. The role combines deep AI expertise with strong business acumen, enabling AI-augmented software delivery, requirements analysis,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent full-time experience.
• 15+ years of full-time professional experience.
• Travel up to 10% as needed.
• Daily use of generative AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) and similar systems.
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and performance.
• Expertise with agent-based development workflows, LLM APIs, RAG, and vector databases.
• Experience creating and configuring Virtual Machines (VMware, VirtualBox, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME on AI, generative AI, LLMs, ML, and emerging AI capabilities.
• Lead integration of AI components into complex DoW software environments.
• Lead integration of AI models and services into mission-critical software systems.
• Demonstrate AI-enabled engineering techniques to improve productivity and quality.
• Define and evolve AI-augmented engineering standards and best practices.
• Develop Intelligent Data Processing and NLP pipelines.
• Deliver AI-enabled dashboards, interfaces, and insights.
• Develop proofs-of-concepts and demonstrations for AI use cases.
• Prototype and evaluate emerging AI developer tooling and automate workflows.
• Mentor engineering teams on generative AI usage in development workflows.
• Identify areas to accelerate software lifecycle with AI/automation.
