Job summary

Piq Energy is hiring a senior software engineer to build, deploy, and maintain production AI agents and backend services. You will collaborate with power systems experts and designers to create a powerful, secure, and scalable platform.

Join a remote-friendly team with hubs in San Francisco and Athens, contributing to an autonomous grid planning platform and influencing architecture and user experiences. Expect responsibilities spanning design reviews to hands-on coding.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering with high-quality delivery.
• Production experience shipping AI agents and multi-step tool use.
• Adaptability to fast-changing technical landscapes.
• Experience building scalable data-intensive backend systems in Python.
• Ownership of end-to-end software delivery.
• Strong communication and collaboration in a remote-friendly setting.
• Experience delivering for enterprise customers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Engineer the skills and tools agents use, and how they integrate with the platform.
• Extend evaluation systems for agent output with automated grading and tests.
• Develop memory and context management for long tasks and personalization.
• Lead end-to-end workstreams: gather requirements, architect, plan, and rollout.
• Collaborate with users and customer teams to translate needs into design.
• Maintain performance, scalability, and security of the platform.
• Provide mentorship and feedback to teammates.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning.
• Help improve software engineering practices with bias toward action.
