Job summary

EY seeks a senior AI/Applied AI Engineer to build scalable agent systems that move from intent to verified outcomes. You will design deterministic workflows, tools, and controls across complex enterprise integrations, ensuring safety, transparency, and reliability in production.

The role sits at the intersection of applied AI, distributed systems, and product engineering, tackling long-running behavior and difficult production failures.

Qualifications

• Production engineering experience in distributed systems.
• Agent architecture reasoning for planning, tools, state, and coordination.
• Hands-on knowledge of model APIs, structured outputs, context, retrieval, memory, experimentation, and tool use.
• Experience measuring complete trajectories and verified outcomes for variable behavior.
• Strong instincts for least privilege, tool boundaries, observability, resilience, recovery, and human intervention.
• Ability to balance quality, latency, cost, and user control and explain trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model and architecture for deterministic steps or multi-agent coordination.
• Build dependable tools with clear contracts, validated outcomes, and narrow authorization.
• Engineer agent behavior including planning, routing, delegation, stopping, and handoffs.
• Create durable context by combining instructions, user state, retrieval, memory, and feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities, credentials, budgets, and containment.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified outcomes and recovery.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state, checkpoints, and safe retries.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end tracing and replay for failure diagnosis.
• Protect user control with intervention points to inspect, redirect, and resume work.
• Build shared capability by partnering across product, platform, security, and evaluation.
