Job summary

EY seeks a senior AI and distributed-systems engineer to build and operate long-running agent workloads and enterprise integrations. You will shape deterministic workflows, safety controls, and tooling across cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, auditable AI behaviors in real business contexts.

You will optimize planning, tool use, memory, and environment feedback while ensuring security, scaling, and operational readiness for production deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• 9–12+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong record in software or applied ML engineering with ownership of production systems.
• Hands-on evidence of shipping large-language-model apps, agents, or complex model-driven workflows.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or equivalent production languages.
• Experience with model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, tools, and evaluation of variable behavior.
• Distributed execution with asynchronous work, state, concurrency, retries, and failure recovery.
• Experience implementing access boundaries and scoped authority for automated workloads.
• Evidence of improving live systems through traces, metrics, logs, incidents, and remediation.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and hybrid office attendance.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model and design agent architectures with measurable performance.
• Build dependable tools, interfaces with clear contracts, and controlled error handling.
• Engineer agent behavior including planning, routing, delegation, and retries.
• Create durable context aggregating instructions, user state, memory, and environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities, credentials, and budgets.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified task success and safe use of tools.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state, checkpointing, and graceful degradation.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end traces and replay for failure analysis.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points for inspection and safe resumption.
• Build shared capability by partnering across product/platform/security/evaluation teams.
