Job summary

Legion seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to architect the intelligence layer behind our agentic AI platform, focusing on search, navigation, and task-oriented experiences. You will design and ship ML systems for retrieval, reasoning, planning, tool use, and adaptive navigation across the product.

The role requires deep experience building agentic systems, including reasoning loops, tool calling, memory management, and model fine-tuning.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship or Green Card is required due to US Government contract.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, ML, NLP, or related field.
• 7+ years in ML/MLOps with production experience.
• Experience designing, building, evaluating, and optimizing agentic AI systems.
• Strong systems thinking, scalability, and cost awareness.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication.
• Experience debugging distributed systems.
• Willingness to learn new tools and adapt quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead ML/NLP systems powering search, navigation, and agentic AI experiences.
• Innovate around iterative reasoning, retrieval, and search.
• Develop, fine-tune, evaluate ML models for production.
• Design knowledge graphs and semantic representations.
• Collaborate with product, platform, and engineering teams end-to-end.
• Assess algorithmic complexity, latency, and production costs.
• Ensure high-quality, reliable, and scalable enterprise products.
• Support production systems and resolve distributed issues.
• Communicate decisions and tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Stay current with AI/NLP advances and apply them thoughtfully.
