Job summary

Waymo is seeking a senior IC to redefine evaluation and scale the Waymo driver. The role is hybrid and reports to an Engineering Director. You will design and deploy agentic AI systems, build robust evaluation frameworks, and automate scaling of the hardest evaluation problems.

The position requires 7+ years in software engineering, deep AI/ML knowledge, and experience integrating LLMs with external tools. C++ production services and internal platforms are preferred, with salary range disclosed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven expertise in AI/ML with hands-on experience building autonomous agents.
• Extensive software engineering experience, 7+ years, focused on large-scale systems.
• Strong leadership with ability to influence senior teams and drive execution across groups.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production-grade agentic AI systems to solve complex, open-ended evaluation challenges.
• Develop automated evaluation frameworks and objective metrics for AI agents.
• Automate building and scaling of hard eval problems inhibiting Waymo's scale.
