Job summary

Waymo is hiring for researchers and software engineers to advance the Waymo Driver evaluation systems. You will develop machine learning models, analyze driving data, and contribute to scalable ML and data infrastructure used for hundreds of metrics and components of the Waymo driver.

Typical candidates have strong ML experience, experience with deep learning and transformers, and a track record of delivering ML in production.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Robotics, ML, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on ML project experience.
• Strong coding in C++ and/or Python.
• Experience with Foundational Models, VLM, or Deep Learning.
• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face transformers; ML deployment at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of cutting edge Deep Learning and ML models to enhance triaging and automate high-volume workflows.
• Design and build Gen AI LLM/VLM solutions for self-driving car behavior analysis and anomaly detection.
• Monitor and adopt best practices to develop RL from human preference data collection and evaluation.
• Enhance User Feedback Analysis, enable multi-label classification, sentiment, and trend analysis.
• Oversee production and optimization of ML models for Waymo's fleet.
• Drive technical direction and provide guidance to the team.
• Collaborate with PMs/TPMs to align technical agenda with business goals.
• Work with Prediction/Planning/Research teams and senior leadership to deliver on key efforts.
