Job summary

Akima seeks a Senior Data Scientist to architect and lead Agentic AI across Azure, AWS, GCP, and on‑prem for DoD digital modernization. You will collaborate with government leaders, cloud architects, and engineers to deliver secure, scalable AI solutions that span multiple clouds and edge/on‑prem environments.

You will guide AI deployments, mentor teams, and present architectural recommendations to executives while navigating IL5 security requirements and mission‑critical timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, AI, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• Active Top Secret Clearance.
• 10+ years in data science, ML, AI, or cloud engineering.
• 5+ years designing enterprise AI/ML solutions.
• Experience deploying AI in cloud or hybrid environments.
• Kubernetes and containerized apps experience.
• Strong Python skills.
• Experience with REST APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with LLMs and Generative AI.
• Excellent communication and technical presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI architecture discussions with engineers and present to government leaders.
• Design portable AI architectures across Azure, AWS, GCP, and on‑prem.
• Evaluate feasibility and provide architectural recommendations.
• Develop scalable AI reference architectures minimizing vendor lock‑in.
• Lead development of multi‑agent systems and RAG workflows.
• Design and deploy AI deployments using Azure/AWS/GCP and Kubernetes platforms.
• Lead containerized AI deployments with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and CI/CD.
• Develop analytics and ML solutions: predictive analytics, NLP, document intelligence, knowledge graphs, RAG.
• Ensure security: IL5, Zero Trust, data governance, PII/PHI safeguards.
