Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Wire Harness Designer to join our aerospace and space programs. You will design cables and harnesses, generate wire lists and assembly drawings, and collaborate with systems, electrical, test and operations teams to ensure manufacturability.

The role requires deep CAD experience (SolidWorks or equivalent), IPC/WHMA-A-620 knowledge, and 5+ years in aviation/space contexts. Expect cross-functional work, mentoring, travel up to 20%, and a strong emphasis on quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience in aviation and/or space applications.
• Associate of Science Degree in technology or proven work experience.
• Strong practical experience with SolidWorks, or other CAD based wire harness design tools.
• Strong oral and written skills.
• Solid understanding and use of industry standards (IPC/WHMA-A-620).
• Solid understanding of electrical schematics.
• Experience in the creation of fabrication drawings and related BOM's as well as experience with crafting processes and standardization documentation.
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of with Agile or other PLM platforms.
• US citizenship required
• Up to 15-20% travel.

Responsibilities

• Generate sophisticated cable and harness design packages for aviation and space applications.

• Assist programs in identifying critical components and design features and challenges.
