Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced spacecraft harness design professional to design, develop, and release harness assemblies for the TeraWave satellite constellation. You will create bundle and wire interconnect diagrams with subsystem owners and produce detailed harness drawings for assembly and pin assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years in spacecraft/satellite harness design or related wiring.
• Experience producing harness drawings for assembly and connector pin assignment.
• Hands-on BID/WID development and cross-subsystem coordination.
• Experience with CAD tools for electrical harnessing.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC for harness segregation and grounding.

• Design, develop, and release spacecraft wire harness assemblies for bus, payload, and integration applications across the TeraWave constellation.
• Develop Bundle Interconnect Diagrams and Wire Interconnect Diagrams with subsystem owners.
• Produce harness assembly, installation, and connector pin assignment drawings.
• Create and maintain 3D harness routing models, performing interference checks, bend-radius verification, and mass/length estimation.
• Select connectors, backshells, contacts, and interconnect hardware for the space environment.
• Define connector keying, clocking, pin assignments, and shielding termination methods.
• Perform voltage-drop, wire-derating, current-capacity, weight, and thermal-dissipation analyses.
• Support EMI/EMC harness segregation planning.
• Coordinate harness fabrication, make/buy decisions, build instructions, and production issue resolution.
• Develop harness acceptance-test procedures.
• Support vehicle integration and test, troubleshooting anomalies, redlines, and connector mate/demate operations.
• Design harnesses for manufacturability, production rate, standardization, and assembly-time optimization at constellation scale

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience in spacecraft or satellite harness design, cable routing, or electrical integration
• Experience producing harness assembly, installation, and connector pin assignment drawings
• Hands-on experience with BID/WID development and multi-subsystem interface coordination
• Proficiency with electrical harness CAD tools such as Creo Cabling/Routed Systems, Zuken, Capital Harness, Mentor/Siemens, or equivalent
• Working knowledge of harness fabrication standards
• Understanding of EMI/EMC principles for harness segregation, shielding, and grounding
• Familiarity with space-application connector systems including Micro-D, Nano-D, D-sub, circular MIL-DTL-38999, and MIL-DTL-83513
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, block diagrams, and interface control documents
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident/current Green Card holder, or lawfully admitted U.S. refugee or asylee
• Preferred: experience taking at least one spacecraft harness program through full lifecycle
• Preferred: Creo Cabling/Routed Systems and Windchill PLM experience
• Preferred: satellite constellation, high-rate spacecraft, or automotive production experience
• Preferred: high-voltage spacecraft power harness design above 50V
• Preferred: harness weight optimization for mass-constrained spacecraft
• Preferred: harness-level or system-level signal integrity analysis for Ethernet, SpaceWire, or LVDS
• Preferred: harness fabrication-shop support, first-article reviews, nonconformance disposition, and rework procedures

Core Competencies

Demonstrates expertise in spacecraft harness design, including the development of Bundle Interconnect Diagrams and Wire Interconnect Diagrams, as well as proficiency in electrical harness CAD tools. Capable of performing detailed analyses and supporting vehicle integration and testing processes.
