Job summary

Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) is seeking a Welding Engineer to support NASA MSFC ESSCA contracts in Huntsville, AL. The role focuses on developing welding processes for large aluminum aerospace structures and leading welding development projects.

Responsibilities include creating procedures, conducting R&D, and coordinating inspections, with advisory support to customers and internal teams. On-site work at MSFC is required.

Qualifications

• Exposure to manufacturing large, welded aluminum aerospace structures.
• Experience with paperless Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
• Experience documenting and resolving manufacturing nonconformances.
• Ability to operate and maintain customer-owned vehicles with a valid license and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Develop welding techniques, procedures and equipment applications for metal fabrication.
• Conduct R&D to develop new welding processes and improve equipment.
• Prepare technical reports from research and development activities.
• Establish welding procedures for production involving complex alloys and special welding of joints.
• Direct and coordinate inspections to ensure compliance with welding procedures and standards.
• Act as project lead engineer on welding development and manufacturing projects.
• Provide expert welding guidance to customers and internal teams.
