Job summary

Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) seeks a welding engineering lead to develop techniques and procedures for large aluminum aerospace structures at MSFC in Huntsville, AL. You will guide welding development, conduct R&D, and prepare technical reports in collaboration with ESSCA and NASA teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 18+ years experience or BS with 20+ years experience.
• Experience manufacturing large welded aluminum aerospace structures.
• Experience developing inputs into paperless MES or working under MES.
• Experience identifying and documenting manufacturing nonconformances and resolving them under oversight boards.

Responsibilities

• Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment for aluminum aerospace structures.
• Lead welding development projects and coordinate with NASA ESSCA and client engineers.
• Conduct R&D to improve welding processes and equipment; prepare technical reports.
• Establish welding procedures and guide production personnel on specifications and post-weld requirements.
• Direct inspections and provide technical advice on welding matters.
