Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Project Engineer III in BURBANK, CA to lead aerospace product development from concept to production. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customers to ensure compliance with technical, schedule, and certification requirements.

The role emphasizes leadership, cross-functional coordination, and hands-on engineering documentation. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred), 5+ years in aerospace

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Masters preferred).
• 5+ years aerospace or related engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading new product development projects.
• Experience with aircraft qualification and certification processes.
• Ability to create and review engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience preparing engineering and certification documentation.
• Strong leadership and project coordination skills.
• Knowledge of aircraft systems, fluid systems, or thermal/mechanical systems.
• Experience with aircraft fluid systems.
• Environmental and qualification testing experience.
• Knowledge of AS9145/APQP processes.
• FEA experience.
• CATIA V5 experience.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
• Experience mentoring engineers.
• Experience supporting AS9100 or customer audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects through design, testing, certification, and production.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to meet project goals and deadlines.
• Create and review engineering drawings, models, and technical documents.
• Oversee product testing, analysis, and certification activities.
• Resolve technical issues and support manufacturing processes.
• Work directly with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Communicate project status, risks, and solutions to leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
