Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a Program Manager to lead mechanical design activities for aerospace structures and systems in Mukilteo, WA. You will guide multiple program teams, mentor junior engineers, and support prototyping, testing, and qualification from concept to flight.

Responsibilities include leading design efforts, performing analyses, and contributing to proposals while ensuring compliance with military and commercial specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• Typically six or more years of aerospace or defense design experience.
• Proven experience designing hardware that passed qualification testing.
• Proficiency in mechanical design, engineering principles, and drawing conventions.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools and stress analysis.

Responsibilities

• Leads mechanical design activities across design stages.
• Conceptualizes and designs structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems.
• Performs calculations, analyses, and tolerance stack-ups.
• Verifies calculations and analyses by others.
• Leads system- and subsystem-level design across programs.
• Supports proposals and rapid concept development via CAD models.
• Generates Bills of Materials and drafting packages.
• Supports prototyping, testing, and qualification.
• Mentors junior engineers and provides design guidance.
