Karman Space & Defense is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer in Mukilteo, WA to develop aerospace structures with advanced composites. You will drive designs from concept to deployment, create detailed CAD drawings, perform analyses, and collaborate with manufacturing and QA teams to ensure flight-ready hardware.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Eng or equivalent, 4–7 years in aerospace/defense design, and proficiency in CATIA V5, GSD, and Composite Work Bench.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years of aerospace/defense hardware design experience.
• Proficiency in mechanical design, engineering and drawing conventions.

Aufgaben

• Conceptualizes, develops, and designs structures, tooling, and mechanisms using advanced composites.
• Creates CAD models at component and assembly level.
• Produces drawings, BOMs, manufacturing requirements, and inspection criteria.
• Applies GD&T and performs mechanical strength calculations.
• Leads subsystem design and validates analyses for safe operation.
• Reviews designs for cost, manufacturability, and QA considerations.
• Identifies off‑the‑shelf components, selects vendors, and supports procurement.
• Documents performance requirements, test plans, and contractual specs.
• Supports manufacturing, QA, testing, and delivery activities.
