Job summary

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with 5-10+ years of aerospace experience to lead mechanical and structural design efforts in composite parts and laminates using Siemens NX.

The role takes concepts through detailed design, manufacturing, and integration, performing hand calculations and basic FEA, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust aerospace solutions at Oxnard, CA onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5-10+ years of mechanical or structural design experience in aerospace.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX for 3D modeling and drawings.
• Experience with composite part design, laminate definitions, and ply development.
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 / GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop aerospace mechanical and structural components and assemblies.
• Perform detailed design of composite and metallic components with weight, performance, manufacturability considerations.
• Develop composite laminates, ply definitions, and layups.
• Create and modify 3D models and drawings using Siemens NX.
• Prepare and release drawings per ASME Y14.5 / GD&T.
• Perform hand calculations and basic FEA to validate concepts.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to support fabrication and integration.
