Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of experience with systems engineering principles and processes related to aerospace system development.
• Demonstrated experience with fault-tolerance strategies and architectures for safety- and mission-critical systems.
• Experience with autonomous system design, analysis, and testing.
• Familiarity with embedded software system design or operation.
• First-principles knowledge of major spacecraft subsystems.
• Familiarity with FMECA, FTA, and FHA safety and mission assurance analyses.
• Ability to form relationships with experts across engineering fields and provide constructive feedback on FMSA, safety, and reliability concerns.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to balance several tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to earn trust and maintain positive, professional relationships.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Willingness to travel 10–20%
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
• Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
• Preferred: M.S. degree in a relevant technical field

• Preferred: Subject matter expertise in fault-tolerance strategies and architectures

• Preferred: Spaceflight systems design, development, and certification experience, including radiation environments and effects

• Preferred: HIL and SIL testing experience

Responsibilities

• Develop fault management and system autonomy architecture across all mission phases
• Establish and manage fault management architectures, design principles, and requirements
• Define redundancy architecture, including cross-strapping and fault containment regions for integrated systems
• Architect, design, and analyze autonomous behaviors, modes, and states
• Plan and execute integrated system Fault Management and Autonomy Verification and Validation
• Monitor and approve fault management and autonomy design, development, and testing
• Drive process improvements with ownership and urgency
• Collaborate with the Blue Ring spacecraft Systems Engineering, Integration & Test team and across the program
• Contribute innovative solutions while maintaining high technical standards
