Job summary

CMI Group in the Phoenix area seeks a skilled CNC Programmer to develop, edit, and optimize programs for complex aerospace and defense components. You will translate blueprints and 3D models into precise machining processes, ensuring parts meet specifications, on time, and in full regulatory compliance.

You will create new CNC programs from drawings, select tooling and parameters, develop inspection methods, and collaborate with engineering to resolve process issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC mills.
• Hands-on experience with Mastercam or ESPRIT CAM software.
• Ability to interpret manufacturing work instructions and MOT sketches.
• Thorough understanding of CNC machine function and G-Code programming, including probing.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Solid knowledge of cutting tools, tool geometry, and standard machining practices.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance.
• U.S. Person eligibility under export control (per 22 C.F.R.).

Responsibilities

• Develop new CNC programs from drawings, models, and specs for aerospace/defense components.
• Create standard work instructions to support CNC setups.
• Apply experience with complex, close-tolerance parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical specs.
• Select tooling and cutting parameters for various operations.
• Design fixtures and workholding to program machines and produce parts to spec.
• Develop in-process inspection methods to ensure quality.
• Troubleshoot programs, diagnose root causes, and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering to resolve process issues.
• Edit/convert programs for different machines; advance programming techniques.
• Update job/part data in the MRP system and ensure AS9100/ITAR compliance.
