Job summary

MITRE’s Cyber Threat Intelligence department seeks an experienced offensive security engineer to build and emulate adversary behaviors and real-world threat capabilities. You will advance the state of the art and support critical projects like ATT&CK Evaluations and Caldera, collaborating with government sponsors to improve cyber defense.

The role requires 4 days on-site weekly, strong programming skills, and the ability to independently deliver adversary emulation capabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years with a Master’s; or a PhD with relevant experience.
• Experience creating and using offensive security tools, malware implants, and other red team capabilities in one or more programming languages.
• Demonstrated ability to independently deliver adversary emulation capabilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting technical analysis in written products and presentations.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance; U.S. citizen required.
• This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Responsibilities

• Build and emulate cutting-edge capabilities of real-world threats.
• Use AI to advance cyber operations, purple teaming, and cyber threat intelligence.
• Build products, perform R&D, and help sponsors solve CTI problems.
• Propose and lead research to improve cyber operations.
• Participate in offensive security engagements to show blue teams how to respond to adversaries.
• Advance ATT&CK, Caldera, and MITRE efforts.
