Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer in Irving, TX, to build software for robotic, autonomous, and safety-critical machines. You will design, test, and release software, while shaping build pipelines and safety features for real-world operation.

The role emphasizes leadership, architecture, and collaboration across teams, with opportunities to apply AI and new technologies in critical machinery applications. This is an onsite, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Degree required in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
• 10+ years’ experience in platform-level development and interfacing with internal teams is preferred.
• Experience with ADAS/product development in heavy machinery or automotive is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and release software for robotic, automated, and safety-critical machines in real-world settings.
• Develop and maintain build, integration, and release pipelines to ensure consistent deployment.
• Contribute to operator and machine safety systems and integrate new technology including AI.
