Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking a Principal Actuary to provide advanced actuarial analysis for complex rating, pricing, valuation, and forecasting. This role collaborates across actuarial teams and supports Network Management, Underwriting and Sales & Marketing, with potential project leadership responsibilities.

The candidate should have ASA/MAAA credentials, 5+ years of experience, and may be eligible for Fellowship (FSA). Hybrid-remote work is available with a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree as required.
• ASA and MAAA memberships indicate professional status.
• 5+ years of experience in actuarial related work.
• Alternative actuarial credentials may be considered in lieu of ASA.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) may be considered rather than ASA after 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to highly complex actuarial modeling and analysis.
• Lead or consult on assigned projects as a subject-matter expert.
• Assist in rating/pricing and participate in financial forecasting.
• Support networks, underwriting, and sales/marketing with actuarial inputs.
• Develop and maintain rating models and conduct experience studies.
• Support rate filing development and influence plan forecasts.
• Engage in continuing education per actuarial governing bodies.
