Job summary

Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co. in the US Boston area seeks an Actuarial Manager for Personal Lines Auto Analytics to lead a team delivering external actuarial support for rate changes, product initiatives, and regulator negotiations.

You will partner with state analytics, planning, rate revision and countrywide rollout teams, develop expertise across data sources, and provide data-driven insights to inform business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred.
• Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) or near-FCAS designation preferred.
• 5-10 years progressively responsible experience, including supervisory experience.
• Ability to foster teamwork and relationships across organizational line.
• Knowledge of underwriting concepts including company/agency relationships' importance to the business success.
• Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively express technical actuarial and statistical concepts to non-technical individuals internal and external to the organization.
• Advanced decision making, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Expands/maintains Actuarial professional knowledge through society (CAS/AAA) publications and meetings/conferences.

Responsibilities

• Provide actuarial support for state filings for rate and other new initiatives.
• Lead team of five actuaries / analysts.
• Provide analytical insight and recommendations to State Directors to inform business decisions.
• Track state-level requirements for actuarial assumptions in filings and apply them appropriately.
• Develop subject matter expertise which can be leveraged countrywide.
• Own continuous improvement of processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of external actuarial support that are quickly integrated in daily work routines.
• Queries data for requests outside of base rate support and drive deep dives on an ad-hoc basis.
• Communicate effectively with external regulators in writing and verbally, to support business outcomes.
