Job summary

MAPFRE, a global insurance leader, seeks an Actuary III to own the Massachusetts Personal Lines Auto market. You will drive pricing insights, forecast profitability, and influence rate decisions using strong SQL and actuarial judgment. Collaboration across teams and mentoring of staff are key parts of the role.

The position requires 5–7 years in personal lines pricing, a bachelor’s degree, and the ability to communicate with leadership while managing multiple initiatives in a hybrid/remote setup.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of actuarial personal lines pricing or related experience.
• Actuarial, analytical, and coding expertise with SQL proficiency.
• Ability to perform advanced quantitative analyses and contribute to complex projects.
• Strong communication with business partners and senior leadership.
• Ability to manage multiple work streams and prioritize effectively.
• Proven track record of implementing methodology or process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Own the Market: lead analyst for Massachusetts Personal Lines Auto.
• Drive insight: provide actuarial analysis for rate changes and initiatives.
• Review pricing for new or existing rating elements and coverages.
• Quantify top- and bottom-line impacts of rate and non-rate actions.
• Forecast profitability and rate needs amid product, market, and economic changes.
• Lead with data: make data-driven recommendations with actuarial judgment.
• Use SQL to retrieve and manipulate data across sources efficiently.
• Operate independently: perform reasonability checks and ensure accuracy.
• Communicate findings clearly to peers, partners, and senior leadership.
• Collaborate across functions and recommend process improvements.
• Mentor junior staff and pursue CAS exams (ACAS).
