Job summary

Highmark Inc. seeks a senior actuarial analyst to participate in the Actuarial Executive Development Program and advance toward actuarial credentialing.

The role defines and diagnoses problems, outlines data requirements, and develops analyses to inform decision makers. Responsibilities include mentoring staff, producing studies, and applying actuarial techniques across pricing, claims, and profitability analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline.
• 3 years experience in an actuarial role.
• 6 Exam Components required.
• Preferred: 10 or more Exam Components.

Responsibilities

• Define and diagnose problems; outline data requirements and devise potential solutions.
• Create studies and analyses; prepare materials for decision makers and advise management.
• Ensure internal and external work is consistent; perform reasonability checks and test suspect results.
• Utilize industry forums and mentor staff; provide technical input and develop processes for better outcomes.
• Understand environment and goals; propose changes to processes; balance big picture and details in analysis.
• Independently manage time across multiple projects; prioritize and adapt in dynamic settings.
• Interact with stakeholders to deliver responsive service and explain technical work to diverse audiences.
• Guide and mentor less experienced staff; accept feedback and lead by example.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
